GREAT ACHIEVERS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (GASDI)
BACKGROUND
Established in Nigeria in 2009 and incorporated in 2022. GASDI is an NGO active in Nigeria. The inspiration behind the establishment of the organization is to avail a multi sector opportunities for humanity and play a vital role in developmental sector of various communities as well as building capacities of organizations. The first ever initiatives of GASDI are working through community participation in entrepreneurship development, agricultural process, resource mobilization and empowerment. GASDI gathered like-minded social workers and development professionals across Nigeria to launch activities that would not only continue the efforts to invest in the social capital already created by various National & International organizations but also to replicate the approach and efforts in other marginalized areas of Nigeria. The name, GASDI is fully known as Great Achievers Social Development Initiative.
OVERVIEW
GASDI is a voluntary not-for-profit, non-sectarian humanitarian organization dedicated to social & economic development with concerns for Community and Labour Market Development/Livelihood/ Employ-ability/Social Mobilization, Emergency Response (Relief/Recovery/Reconstruction & Rehabilitation), Environment & Natural Resource Management, Advocacy & Awareness Raising, Gender Mainstreaming, Human Resource management, Institutional Reforms/Capacity Building, Good Governance/Rule of Law, Peace and Political Awareness, Education, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Development (Formal/Non-Formal/ Technical & Vocational/Skill Development).
GASDI focuses on the ignored and marginalized segments of the society like the poor, women and people living in remote regions, thus empowering and enabling them to bring them on the grassroots level to the mainstream of development process.

MISSION STATEMENT
"To empower marginalized communities in Nigeria affected by climate change, through education, economic empowerment, and community development initiatives, mobilizing local and international support to eradicate poverty and promote sustainable growth, social justice, and human dignity."
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE
- To empower young entrepreneurs in the society through skill acquisition programme.
- To Foster development in the society.
- To inspire and impact the lives of young person's towards achieving their dreams and aspirations.
- To promote self-employment, enhance the quality of the youths by providing humanitarian aids and personal development through skill acquisition programme and entrepreneurship development.
- To liaise, affiliate, combine with any organization or bodies who are like minded and who share the same vision with the organization.
- To contribute to the socio-economic uplift of the population through Resource Management, peoples’ participation and effective partnership with Governmental and Non- Governmental Organizations working in the area.
- To contribute to initiatives for increase in productivity and earnings of the population through skill development and income generation opportunities.
- To work for increase in efficiencies and effectiveness of the organizations providing services.
- To promote formal and non- formal education with special focus on women & children.
- To improve health and hygiene situation in the area & create awareness about drug abuses.
- To assist in capacity building of grassroots organizations through training, technical support, networking and linkages.
- To contribute to Institutional Reforms & Good Governance initiatives at grassroots level.
- To contribute to empowerment of people by ensuring their access to information for having informed choices to prioritize and address their needs.
- To contribute to the Civil Society strengthening initiatives by giving voice to the voiceless and promoting social justice.
- To support the farming community in scientific management of natural resources base on sustainable basis.
- To contribute to protection and promotion of human rights, with special focus on the rights of women, children and the vulnerable.
- To contribute to gender mainstreaming initiatives by government and non-government organizations
FUTURE PLAN
1. Continue a slow and steady journey towards its destination.
2. Decrease dependence on external support and emphasize advocacy ventures.
3. Expand to other areas through replication of tested models.
